Even the largest of music collection is rendered worthless when you are away
from your home network.
Some portable music players can hold an entire collection but even the
largest may require some comprimise on quality. One solution is to install
software like TVersity on a home server, making an entire media collection
available over the internet.
This latest version even includes the ability to play FLV and MP4 videos as
they are downloaded onto the server, something which was previously only
possible with WMV.
Once installed on a home server, media files can be played on a wide variety
of devices including other desktop computers, iPhone and iPod, PSP, Playstation
3 and Nintendo Wii.
As well as an existing media collection, devices can also play back other
online content. As most tagging standards are supported, it is simple to keep
organise media and create playlists. |

Mr Robbo brought this up on his blog and I have visited the site in question to find out if the Apple iPhone was compatible. Handwritted white board notes can be taken and adapted from a jpeg into a PDF. Apparently there are still problems with handwritten sheet noted and printed documents. This is a great tool for students and teachers wanting to keep their whiteboard for prosperity.
Last Night I stumbled across a fantastic little mobile tool called Qipit. Now I’ve talked before about tools that have instantly got me thinking about the possibilities they present for classroom use, but this one takes the cake. So what does it let you do? Well say for instance you only have a hard copy of a particular document or you have just drawn a fantastic mind map on the white board in one of your classes, or maybe one of your students has just handwritten an excellent story that you want to share…… Well simply take out your mobile phone and take a picture using its digital camera, send a copy to copy@qipit.com and your picture will be converted into a crisp, clean, electronic PDF file that you can fax, email and store right from your mobile phone. |

Reward yourself by clicking the link below and getting the games for 99c or 59p.
| it seems Pangea is keen to keep its good news coming, as it’s offering all five of its games at the bargain price of 0.59 until next Tuesday (December 2nd).
Apparently this is a ‘Black Friday‘ sale – a phrase we don’t tend to employ much here in the UK |

This is a very comprehensive review of the book app, Classics. The app is basic but this review is not. For more information follow the link. This is a great tool for English teachers encouraging students to read the classics. It can serve as a nice gateway device to further reading.

Classics book shelf, stocked with
some of literature’s finest
Among the possibilities opened up by iPhone OS 2.0, reading books on the iPhone has emerged as a fairly popular one. Though the debate rages between fans of the printed page and those who prefer digital shelves, Classics is a new book-reading iPhone app that hopes to unite the two factions by recreating that familiar page-turning feel. We spoke with co-creator Phill Ryu, then curled up with a blanket and a cup of tea to find out whether Classics can replace our paperbacks.

Lux
For those wishing to be Napoleon, Alexander or Stewie Griffen, you can download this app to your iPod Touch/iPhone and start your world conquest. Risk-like this app shows students the potential political consequences of aggression.
Lux Deluxe
| Lux Touch (Sillysoft Games)
Having spent a couple of years’ worth of school playtimes playing Risk as a teenager (yeah, I know), the venerable war boardgame still has a special place in my heart.
So Lux Touch, which is heavily inspired by Risk, was bound to appeal. You control a blue army trying to take over the world by conquering a territory at a time, with slick touchscreen controls. A deluxe version will be launched soon with more features, but for now we’re enjoying this freebie. Get it |

This is a great idea, which should spur sales for iVerse and help comic book creators who have fallen on hard times. I will continue to highlight this initiative when new titles become part of it. 99c or 59p for comic book which means you give 49c to charity or 29p and get a great comic in the bargain! I would urge purchasing these titles as this will promote a good cause, provide entertainment and promote reading.
|
50% of iVerse’s proceeds from the sale of this special title each month will be donated to The Hero Initiative to assist comic creators in need.
Starting this month and continuing indefinitely, iVerse Media and The Hero Initiative will select one of the digital comic books released by iVerse through the iTunes App Store as a “Hero Initiative Spotlight” book.
The very first title selected for the “Hero Initiative Spotlight” is Jim Valentino’s “ShadowHawk Vol. 2 #1″. The book is available NOW for $0.99 in the iTunes App Store and you can purchase it via this link or http://www.iversecomics.com/hero.

iVerse put forward its comic reading application in demo form to the world some time ago via a youtube clip and here only a month or two later we have 10 titles being released on the App Store. They have used an American rating system of G to PG-13. I would check the PG-13 titles out first before allowing children to be exposed to them. The ShadowHawk book has mature views and violent imagery. The title below appears to be at the other end of the spectrum. Not all of the comics are free but check out the iverse site for the links

| From the mind of Dragon Arms and Junction 17 creator David Hutchison comes this remarkable re-imagining of L. Frank Baum’s timeless classic! Presented for the first time as a digital comic for the iPhone and iPod Touch by iVerse Media in conjunction with Antarctic Press! Dorothy longs for something more than the gray plains of Kansas, but when her wish is granted, she gets both her fondest dreams and her worst nightmares! With stunning art by fan-favorite David Hutchison, this fantasy adventure of Harry Potter caliber is sure to amaze readers of all ages! |
| THIS COMICS IS FREE FOR A LIMITED TIME!!! Also look for OZ: The Manga #2 and other digital comic applications from iVerse Media and Antarctic Press in the App Store! |

eReader.com has tons of books for you to choose from on a whole host of topics. eReader viewer is one-step up on Bookshelf in many ways due to its ability to read DRM books. You retain the book on your PC and the iPod Touch/iPhone accesses a new copy from the eReader or other certified websites.
